Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes Major) - Plants for Ponds

Water Hyacinth-(Eichhornia crassipes Major)

Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes Major)

Water Hyacinth is a non-native floating plant.

Due to its invasive nature these plants were banned by the European Union for sale in any European country in August 2017.

These were a big favourite of UK pondkeepers and will be missed.

We would like to suggest the following floating plants as an alternative, please click to be taken directly to the plant:

Alternatively, a great deep water plant for season long interest and colour is the Water Hawthorn (Aponogeton distachyos), this plant flowers from March to July, briefly dies back in August and then emerges again from September to November.  Great value for money - click here
