Collection: Pond Snails

Pond snails are great natural cleaners, helping to keep water clear and ecosystems balanced. We stock two UK native species - Ramshorn and Trapdoor snails, ideal for established ponds.

They graze on algae, decaying plants and excess fish food. Ramshorns graze on the sides of your pond, while Trapdoors tidy the pond floor.

UK-grown and best for mature ponds with enough algae. Avoid adding to new ponds, as snails may eat plants if food is scarce.

Swan Mussels (Anodonta cygnea) and the slightly smaller Painters mussel (Unio pictorum) are filter feeders.  They feed off debris on the pond floor and other small pond organisms, making a significant contribution to the well being and equilibrium in the pond. Mussels can live for up to 12 years and the Swan Mussel can grow up to 15cm in length.
