Pack size:

Normally Available From: 3ltr - April to August

Add a bold burst of colour and structure to your pondside garden with our stunning Agapanthus Collection. Known for their tall stems and showy, firework-like flower heads, these perennials are a real summer favourite, bringing elegance and a touch of the exotic to your borders.

Flowering from mid to late summer, agapanthus are perfect for planting in sunny spots around the pond (not in the pond itself!). Their striking blooms in shades of white, violet, purple and blue create real impact, while their upright habit adds lovely height and movement to your planting scheme.

Pollinators love them too, bees and butterflies are drawn to their rich nectar and the tall, open stems make handy perches for flying visitors.

How to Grow
  • Growing Instructions: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil at ground level, ideal for sunny borders or containers around the pond (not in the water).
Position in full sun in a sheltered spot to encourage strong, upright growth and abundant blooms. Water regularly during dry spells, particularly in the first growing season, to help roots establish.
Space plants approximately 3–4 per m² for 3ltr pots to allow for healthy development and air circulation. Container-grown agapanthus benefit from snug planting to promote flowering.
  • Growing Tips: Enrich the soil with organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure to support flowering. Apply a mulch in spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, but avoid covering the crown.
Plant with the top of the root clump just at or slightly above soil level to prevent rot. Deadhead faded flower heads to tidy the plant and encourage further blooms. In colder areas, mulch well or move containers to a sheltered, frost-free spot over winter.
Care & Maintenance
  • Pruning: Remove spent flower heads once they fade to tidy the plant and encourage further blooming. In autumn, cut back yellowing foliage on deciduous varieties, leaving evergreen types intact—just trim away any damaged or untidy leaves as needed.
  • Pests/Diseases: Agapanthus are generally low-maintenance but may attract aphids or suffer from agapanthus gall midge. Good spacing and drainage help prevent rot and fungal issues.
Ordering, Shipping & Returns

What is a Pre-Order?

Pre-ordering reserves a plant that is still growing and not yet ready to ship. Payment is taken at checkout to secure your plant, and shipping happens once the plant is well-rooted and ready.

Ordering Tip!

Many customers prefer to place two separate orders when ordering early in the season.

  1. One for plants available now.
  2. One for pre-order plants.

This ensures there are no delays, and you can enjoy your ready now plants sooner.
