Add a splash of stately colour to your pondside borders with our beautiful Delphinium Collection. These towering perennials are known for their striking spires of blooms in rich shades of deep blue, soft sky, white, and rose, all with that classic “bee” marking in the centre that pollinators can’t resist.

Perfect for planting around your pond, delphiniums provide height and drama, drawing the eye upwards while creating a lush, flower-filled backdrop. Their tall stems offer shelter and perching spots for insects, while their nectar-rich flowers attract bees and butterflies all summer long.

This collection will include 3 x 1ltr plants, from the varieties below:
- D. Dark Blue Black Bee
- D. Dark Blue White Bee
- D. Light Blue White Bee
- D. Pure White
- D. Rose White Bee

Whether you're starting a new pondside border or enhancing the planting around the edge of your pond, delphiniums are a stunning and wildlife-friendly choice that bring elegance and vibrancy to the surrounding garden, they’re designed to be planted in soil around the pond, not in the water itself.

How to Grow

Growing Instructions: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil at ground level—perfect for borders around the pond, not in the water.
Position in full sun in a sheltered spot to encourage tall, upright growth and vibrant flowering. Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first season, to help the plants establish deep, strong roots.
Space plants approximately 3–5 per m² for 1ltr pots to allow for growth and good air circulation. Taller varieties may benefit from staking for support as they mature.

Growing Tips: Improve soil fertility and drainage by mixing in plenty of organic matter, such as well-rotted compost or leaf mould. Apply a mulch in spring to retain moisture and keep weeds down, but avoid mulching too close to the stems. Plant with the crown just at or slightly above soil level to prevent rot. Regular deadheading encourages a second flush of flowers, while removing faded foliage keeps your delphiniums looking fresh and healthy. Use supports early in the season to protect tall stems from wind damage.

Care & Maintenance

Pruning: Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage a second flush of blooms in late summer. In autumn, cut back the stems to ground level after the foliage has died down.

Pests/Diseases: Delphiniums can attract slugs and aphids; planting near ponds encourages natural predators like frogs. Good spacing helps prevent mildew and crown rot.

Ordering, Shipping & Returns

What is a Pre-Order?

Pre-ordering reserves a plant that is still growing and not yet ready to ship. Payment is taken at checkout to secure your plant, and shipping happens once the plant is well-rooted and ready.

Ordering Tip!

Many customers prefer to place two separate orders when ordering early in the season.

  1. One for plants available now.
  2. One for pre-order plants.

This ensures there are no delays, and you can enjoy your ready now plants sooner.
