Extend the colour of your pondside planting into late summer with this beautiful grower’s choice collection. Designed to frame your pond with a glorious tapestry of colour, movement, and texture. Our Late Summer Flowering Collection brings together three fabulous flowering perennials, each hand-picked by our growers for their peak beauty at the time of dispatch.

Expect an exciting mix of textures and blooms: dainty Gaura twirling in the breeze like tiny butterflies, bold kniphofias standing tall with their torch-like flower spikes, or maybe a flurry of starry phlox or dome-shaped sedums buzzing with bees.

Perfectly suited for soil around the pond edge, these plants are not aquatic but will draw in bees, butterflies and other pollinators while offering a rich foraging ground for visiting birds and shelter for amphibians. A natural way to enhance biodiversity and beauty in one go.

All plants are grown in a family run nursery in the UK.

Each pack will contain 3 x 3ltr plants.

How to Grow

Growing Instructions: Plant in moist, well-drained soil at ground level around the pond, ideal for borders or containers, not for pond margins or shelves.

Position in full sun or part shade for optimal growth. Water regularly during dry periods, particularly during the first growing season, to help plants establish strong roots.

Space plants approximately 6-9 per sqm for 1ltr pots or 3-5 per sqm for 3ltr pots to allow room for growth and proper air circulation.

Growing Tips: Incorporate organic matter, such as compost, into the soil before planting to improve moisture retention and soil structure. Apply a layer of mulch in early spring to conserve soil moisture, suppress weeds, and protect roots. Avoid planting too deeply; the crown of each plant should sit just at or slightly above soil level to prevent rotting. Regular maintenance, such as weeding and removing debris, will help plants thrive.

Care & Maintenance

Pruning: Plants require minimal pruning. Remove faded flowers after blooming to encourage additional flowering or maintain a neat appearance. Cut back dead or damaged foliage in early spring to prepare for new growth. Allow seed heads to remain on some plants over winter to provide food for birds.

Pests/Diseases: Resilient, but may attract pests like slugs and snails. Ponds provide habitats for amphibians like frogs and newts, which naturally prey on slugs, creating a healthy and sustainable garden ecosystem.

Ordering, Shipping & Returns

What is a Pre-Order?

Pre-ordering reserves a plant that is still growing and not yet ready to ship. Payment is taken at checkout to secure your plant, and shipping happens once the plant is well-rooted and ready.

Ordering Tip!

Many customers prefer to place two separate orders when ordering early in the season.

  1. One for plants available now.
  2. One for pre-order plants.

This ensures there are no delays, and you can enjoy your ready now plants sooner.
